New consultant at Wolverhampton chartered accountants
The Wolverhampton office of chartered accountants Haines Watts has appointed Ian Woodward, left, as a new consultant. Mr Woodward specialises in supporting new business start-ups, small limited companies and partnerships. He is particularly experienced in producing business plans, cash flow forecasts, management accounts, payroll, tax planning and VAT returns. “I am delighted to join Haines Watts which is a natural fit for my expertise and experience,” he said. Mr Woodward, from Halesowen, graduated from the University of Sunderland in 1998 with a degree in accounting and business studies and qualified as a chartered accountant three years later.
Grant Thornton boosts recovery department
Grant Thornton has boosted its partner team in Birmingham with the appointment of David Bennett, left, to the Midlands Recovery and Reorganisation department. Mr Bennett joins Grant Thornton from the Thames Valley office of PwC, having previously worked with Grant Thornton’s corporate finance lead advisory and R & R teams between 2000 and 2003. Mr Bennett’s experience focuses on working with distressed and underperforming companies and in the last 12 months this has ranged from the sale of a retail group and the refinancing of an engineering company to the restructuring of a regional hotel group. He said: “It’s great to be back at Grant Thornton. I am particularly looking forward to developing further the R & R team’s expertise in assisting companies in difficulty and finding solutions outside of insolvency, whether that be a restructuring, refinancing or sale in order to secure its future.”
RSM Tenon says LSE listing is good for new recruits
THE Birmingham office of accountants RSM Tenon has said the firm’s listing on the London Stock Market will prove a prove a positive step in attracting new talent to the business. Alan Webb, left, managing director of the office, said: “This move to the main list will attract the attention of institutional investors and analysts who might not previously have looked at an AIM company. The firm intends to translate this into increased shareholder value and to ensure our unique position continues to appeal to ambitious individuals who would like to work for a progressive firm.” RSM Tenon is the first accounting firm ever to be fully listed on the main market of the LSE.
