Amey expands its city office for PFI project

PUBLIC services provider Amey is expanding its offices at Colmore Plaza in Birmingham.
The move is designed to accommodate its specialist project team which is working on the £2.7bn Birmingham Highways PFI.
The 25-year project will see Amey improving and maintaining 2,500km of road network, nearly 100,000 street lights, as well as over 850 highway structures and bridges across the city.
Around 250 employees will transfer from the council to work on the project.
Amey has taken an additional 6,098 sq ft on the third floor of Colmore Plaza to accommodate the 80-strong project team where it is already the largest occupier with its design hub on floors four and five of the 12-storey building.
PFI project director Mike Notman said: “By taking additional space in Colmore Plaza, Amey is further demonstrating its long-term commitment to the city and the wider West Midlands region.
“Bringing together all our people in one central hub will help us to innovate and deliver a more efficient and effective service for people of Birmingham.”
Amey is also delivering the Highways Agency’s Area 9 MAC contract to maintain and improve the region’s motorways and trunk roads, and the West Midlands TechMAC to upgrade technology systems and equipment on the motorway network.
