Coventry social club bought by developer

A FORMER social club in Coventry has been sold, along with a collection of disused properties in the same location.

Local agency Shortland Penn + Moore was instructed through Cranfield Business Recovery to sell the Foleshill Liberal Club as well as other premises on the same site.

The properties have been bought by Christchurch Property Company.

David Penn, director of Shortland Penn + Moore, said: “Sadly, we are seeing this all too often with social and working men’s clubs but thankfully we have achieved the best possible outcome.

“Christchurch Property Company has decided to invest because they see potential in the properties for future yield.”

Brett Barton, a licensed insolvency practitioner with Cranfield Business Recovery, said: “This is the best conclusion for all parties.

“We are seeing more and more clubs go this way because times have changed and social trends are different now, compared with 20 or 30 years ago.”
