Jaguar to debut XF estate at Geneva Motor Show

JAGUAR is to unveil an estate version of its award-winning XF at the Geneva Motor Show.

The XF Sportbrake has been designed to strengthen the range of the best selling model and offer customers extra choice in what is a very competitive sector of the executive market.

German competitors BMW, Audi and Mercedes all offer estate versions of their top executive models and until now, have had the market to themselves.

The Sportbrake, which is Jaguar’s first estate offering since the demise of the X-Type two years ago and is billed as the most versatile Jaguar ever created, shares its underpinnings with the XF saloon to match its handling capabilities while offering better load space.

While resembling the saloon in style, every panel on the XF Sportbrake is new.

Other touches include an optional powered tailgate plus remote fold levers in the boot area to lower the rear seats – negating the need to stretch into the boot.

The car will be powered by a range of fuel efficient diesel engines in 2.2-litre four cylinder and 3.0-litre six-cylinder form, with power directed through the rear wheels via an advanced eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Prices and specifications will be announced nearer the car’s launch, which is set for the third quarter of 2012.

Stable mate Land Rover will be using the Geneva show to display a convertible concept version of its successful new mini SUV, the Evoque.
