Plans revealed for Long Marston scheme

BIRMINGHAM developer St. Modwen and Persimmon Homes have submitted proposals to create a sustainable neighbourhood as the first phase of development at the 470 acre Long Marston development.

Having already received outline planning consent, the first phase will provide 284 homes, a central square with a community centre and convenience store as well as a sports pavilion and pitches, children’s play area, 14 full size allotments, public open areas and car parking.

The plans follow local public consultation and have been designed to transform the former Ministry of Defence site in Warwickshire into a thriving community that will provide high quality housing and facilities as well as around 500 jobs.

The proposed housing includes 115 affordable houses and also a further 28 homes which will be prioritised for those working on the estate.

Richard Hickman, planning manager for St. Modwen, said: “The development will complement the broader redevelopment of the Long Marston Estate and bring this site back to life, creating more jobs and amenities for this part of Warwickshire.”

Around 500 people already work at the 470 acre development, which is located roughly six miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon town centre.
