St Mods submits plans for large resi scheme in Worcester

DEVELOPER St Modwen has submitted plans to redevelop Gregory’s Bank Industrial Estate in Worcester into a multi-million pound residential scheme overlooking the Worcester and Birmingham Canal.
The Birmingham regeneration specialist’s proposed 16 acre development, located just over a mile from Worcester city centre, will provide up to 170 homes along with public open spaces and a children’s play area.
The plans follow local public consultation and have been designed to transform the mostly-vacant industrial estate into a safe, attractive and thriving neighbourhood that will provide additional family housing for the area.
Mike Timmins, senior planning surveyor at St Modwen, described the Gregory’s Bank scheme as an exciting, sustainable neighbourhood development that promised to breathe new life into the area.
“This proposal will significantly enhance the visual quality of the site and has people at its heart. It will bring a semi-vacant urban brownfield site back into beneficial use in a manner that is in keeping with its setting,” he said.
Subject to planning approval being granted in the Spring, St Modwen expects work to begin on site in the Autumn.
