Innovative approach earns Mazars new honour
MAZARS has won a top award for innovative thinking. The firm, which has offices in Birmingham and Wolverhampton, won the ‘Audit Innovation of the Year’ award for its Human Rights Audit practice at the inaugural International Accounting Bulletin Awards.
Mazars Midlands managing partner David Chapman said: “The awards recognise and reward leading accounting firms, networks and alliances across the world, with submissions judged by an independent panel of accounting experts.
“The ‘Audit Innovation of the Year’ award recognises the practice which has made a major, demonstrable impact on audit quality and client service.”
Judges considered evidence of improvements in efficiency, accuracy and reliability, client satisfaction, evidence that the innovation is unique to the market it serves and evidence that the innovation has become a model of best practice to the market it serves.
Yorkshire Bank and RSM Tenon highlight R&D tax relief to manufacturers
MANUFACTURERS in Birmingham were briefed on the importance of research and development tax relief at a seminar in the city organised by Yorkshire Bank.
The seminar, held at the bank’s Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) on Temple Row, outlined how tax incentives for SMEs investing in innovation could be claimed back.
The event was supported by RSM Tenon, with David Nolan and Peter Whitehead on hand to offer advice.
Paul Reeves, managing partner at Yorkshire Bank’s FSC in Birmingham, said: “We had a really big response to the event we held earlier this year that we felt it would be really worthwhile for businesses who couldn’t join us first time around to find out more.
“Businesses can claim for a whole range of costs associated with giving them a competitive edge and we are delighted David and Peter from RSM Tenon were able to join us again to help reinforce this message.”
New offices for Origin
FINANCIAL advisor Origin has relocated to new offices in Hagley to support its ongoing growth.
Simon Williams, Head of Distribution for Origin, said: “The relocation to Hagley has been seen as a positive move by many of our clients as the offices provide easier access by car and public transport.
“The last two years has seen the number of people joining our on-going support programmes increase substantially with clients benefiting from a level of service tailored to their individual circumstances.
“We are also pleased to see steady growth from the number of charities seeking advice in relation to investments and cash management. With charity trustees operating under increasing responsibility the advice we provide enables them to consider their options from a truly independent perspective.”
