Telford firms offered access to £1.5m redundant buildings pot

BUSINESSES in Telford & Wrekin are being urged to bid for a share of a £1.5m pot to help bring redundant commercial buildings back into use.
The money can be used to help fund refurbishment or conversion of redundant buildings.
Grants of between £5,000 and £30,000 are available and can cover up to 30% of a scheme’s costs.
The Marches Redundant Building scheme aims to bring redundant buildings back into productive economic use or to enhance their current business use. The funds cannot be used for conversions for residential, agricultural or horticultural uses.
Telford & Wrekin Council says applications are welcome from existing and start-up businesses and can include individuals, partnerships, limited companies and co-operatives.
Cllr Charles Smith, cabinet member for housing, regeneration and economic development at the council, said: “This is a great opportunity for businesses in the borough to tap into funding that can help businesses to grow and regenerate the borough.
“I urge local businesses not miss out and get their applications in and show that Telford and Wrekin means business.”
The scheme is endorsed by the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership.
