Planning permission approved for £120m eco business park

PLANNING permission has been granted for a new sustainable £120m business park on a 66-acre brownfield site in the West Midlands.
Dudley Council has given its unanimous approval to the mixed-use, employment-led regeneration project, known as Coseley Eco Park.
The site will deliver 225,000 sq ft of flexible commercial space and 190,000 sq ft of retail opportunities, including a new food store and wholesale retail warehouse.
Further detailed plans for each element of the mixed-use masterplan, which also includes 200 new homes, a district heating system and exceptional community facilities, will now progress over the remainder of 2012.
Graham Willson, Director of Skelton Group Investments, which owns the site, said: “This is a huge step forward for Coseley Eco Park. The approval of these outline plans means that we can now actively promote the site to occupiers. Over the coming year this will translate into much-needed new industries, jobs and homes for the West Midlands.”
He said that in granting permission, Dudley councilors had made a clear and unanimous statement about the need for jobs and regeneration in the borough.
“We’re excited to be at the forefront of delivering much needed sustainable growth and investment in the Black Country,” he added.
