Top marks for Shaylor as it wins two student housing contracts

ALDRIDGE-based construction firm Shaylor has won two new contracts from student accommodation specialist The Mansion Group.
They involve sites in Nottingham and London and have a combined value of £6.55m.
Shaylor Interiors, Shaylor Group’s dedicated interiors division, will transform a 1970s concrete frame four-storey office block in Nottingham into 140 studio flats. The £3.95m scheme, which requires the redevelopment and expansion of the Bowman House building, is scheduled for completion in September.
In London Shaylor is charged with refurbishing the internal works on The Mansion Group’s accommodation in Chelsea. The former office building dates from the 1970s and provides 246 rooms over ten floors plus a communal kitchen and living areas. The £2.6m project is due to be completed in July.
Stephen Shaylor, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be working with The Mansion Group again to help meet accommodation requirements in Nottingham, a city which has one of the most vibrant student communities in the UK, and to upgrade its Chelsea property, which offers students secure and comfortable housing in a central location.”
The Nottingham and Chelsea contracts were awarded following Shaylor’s successful completion of a £1.5m refurbishment scheme in Selly Oak, within walking distance of the University of Birmingham.
