Go ahead for Shrewsbury Business Park expansion

ALASKA Property Group has been given the green light for the second phase of its £30m Shrewsbury Business Park development in Shropshire.

Some 161,460 sq ft of office space is planned for the 12.47 acre site three miles south east of Shrewsbury town centre. A plan designed by local architects DGA shows 17 new units arranged around a central thoroughfare – Anchorage Avenue.

When fully developed, Shrewsbury Business Park is expected to support around 1,500 jobs.

The first phase of Shrewsbury Business Park opened in 2001 and now provides 161,460 sq ft of business space. It is home to more than 15 companies including Handelsbanken, NFU, Enviros, Hilton Hotels and Alaska itself, as well as Shropshire County Council.

Alan Hay, managing director of Alaska Property Group, said: “This decision is great news. The first phase of the park is already very successful and the new development will create further opportunities for local businesses, and regional and national firms seeking a presence in the area.”

Alaska was advised by Indigo Planning. Indigo associate director Clare Bland said: “With planning consent for phase two in place, work on the new infrastructure will start in due course and talks with potential occupiers for the new office buildings are already beginning.”

The agents for Shrewsbury Business Park are Pooks and Samuel Wood.
