Black Country auto firms urged to visit low carbon export event

BLACK Country auto component businesses looking to improve their export success in low carbon markets have been urged to attend a national trade event.
The international business exchange at the Low Carbon Vehicle event is being hosted by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI). Companies pre-scheduling their attendance will get the opportunity of one-to-one meetings with major international vehicle manufacturers and tier one companies seeking UK partners in the fields of advanced technology and research and development.
The event takes place on September 5 and 6 and is suitable for firms which work in the fields of alternative fuels and infrastructure, electric machines and power electronics. It is also appropriate for businesses working in energy storage and energy management, fuel cells, intelligent transport systems, internal combustion engines, lightweight vehicle and powertrain structures.
International buyers and UKTI officers from Brazil, China, France, India, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and the United States are all expected to attend.
The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership is supporting the initiative and has joined the calls for firms to attend the event.
Peter Mathews CMG, private sector lead on international trade for the Black Country LEP, said: “This event gives companies looking to tap into overseas markets an opportunity to speak directly with international buyers from countries around the world.
“We hope Black Country firms working in these fields do not miss out as these are real opportunities for business in today’s competitive world.”
Cllr Roger Lawrence, leader of Wolverhampton City Council and LEP board member, said: “UKTI have officers based in embassies and consulates around the world who are market specialists and have top class business and government networks. We believe the support on offer could certainly help local firms to grow their businesses internationally.”
The event is being held at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedford. Interest is expected to be high so companies are asked to pre-book meetings at www.lcv.ukti.gov.uk
