Former KPMG man launches boutique tax firm

A FORMER tax director with KPMG and RSM Tenon in Birmingham has launched Claritas Tax, a specialist tax advisory boutique covering the Midlands.

Iain Wright has 16 years’ experience in the accounting profession and has worked with businesses from start-ups to multinationals. Claritas’ focus will be advising on transactions, international expansion and business taxes for companies, their managers and their shareholders.

Wright said: “While many people would argue that understanding business is more exciting than understanding tax law, we know that it is the combination of both that will most benefit our clients. 

“Our philosophy is that time spent understanding a client’s business is an investment in both the client’s business and our business.

“The coalition government has the objective of creating the most competitive tax system in the G20. This has resulted in a number of opportunities for Midlands businesses to benefit from measures such as the enhancement of the R&D tax relief system, the 10% tax rate offered by the patent box and various improvements made to the taxation of profits earned overseas.
