Ten year anniversary for building consultancy Fusion

BIRMINGHAM building consultancy Fusion is celebrating its tenth anniversary as one of their most unusual schemes is on the cusp of completion.

The Ludgate Hill practice has help-ed to deliver projects across a wide range of sectors – from grand regeneration schemes and one-off housing projects, to motor dealers, music shops and up-market burger restaurants.

However, director Steve Jelfs says its latest project is in a niche of its own: two residential homes for adults with severe autism and their live-in carers.

He said: “The client – Homes Caring for Autism – provides very intensive and high-quality care, so every aspect required very careful assessment. It was also the first time they’d commissioned new-build properties, making the work even more challenging.

”We put together the spec, appointed the builder, then project managed the construction and fit-out of the first home, and the second is on course to finish in December.”

Much of Fusion’s initial work came from contacts in the Birmingham area, but as it evolved in terms of staff numbers and expertise, so has its geographic spread.

Early work for the Handmade Burger Co in the Midlands brought restaurant openings in Aberdeen, Newcastle and Sheffield, with Manchester and Brighton on the menu for 2013.
