Wolverhampton breaks record for business start-ups

WOLVERHAMPTON City Council’s regeneration chief has welcomed news of the city’s record-breaking number of business start-ups.
New research from Duport.co.uk reveals that 384 companies were formed between July and September last year, more than any other quarter on record for the city. It also shows that there was a record level of net company growth. During the third quarter the company register increased by 163.
Councillor Peter Bilson, cabinet member for economic regeneration and prosperity said: “This is encouraging news for the city and a good indicator of the fact that Wolverhampton is a place where new ideas and business proposals can be nurtured and developed to enable a better economy for all.
“Our ‘open for business’ message is delivering some really tangible results.”
Data contained in the report was assimilated and analysed by Duport using public record data from sources including Companies House, the Office for National Statistics and Ordnance Survey.
