Cobbetts breakfasts on REITs

LAW firm Cobbetts is staging its latest in a series of breakfast seminars for property professionals tomorrow with a session discussing Real Estate Investment Trusts.

The seminar, which takes place at the firm’s offices in Colmore Circus in Birmingham, is entitled ‘REITs review: Capital markets funding options for the property sector. It will consider recent changes to the UK REIT regime and the outlook for REITs over the next 12 months. A panel of speakers at the event includes Mark Russon, from London Stock Exchange, and Jim Speed, real estate partner at Cobbetts.

“REITs have operated in the UK since 2007, and whilst the list of registered UK REITs includes some of the largest listed property companies in the world, growth has been slower than many hoped.  However, with the Finance Act 2012 removing and reducing a number of barriers to entry to the UK REIT regime, 2013 looks like the year that REITs could really take off and we need to ensure that property professionals are equipped and have all the latest information to hand,” said Mr Speed.
