New careers service promises better business links for school pupils

A NEW service to help schools enhance careers advice for students and tap into business support has been launched in Walsall.

Education Business Services Ltd provides a range of skills’ development and careers programmes for schools across the Black Country and Staffordshire.

It is the brainchild of education expert Lorenzo Cosco, who has worked within schools for more than 20 years, 12 of them in Walsall, developing business links.

EBS Ltd, is based at Aldridge School, and works with primary and secondary schools as well as local business leaders to introduce ‘world of work’ skills to youngsters.

It provides bespoke educational packages to help develop pupils’ teamwork, communication, creativity and presentation skills and runs day-long Dragons’ Den-style business events for students.

Mr Cosco said: “It’s vital that the local business community goes into schools to help develop our young people. Schools are great at delivering qualifications but often need outside support to make young people more work-ready.

“We see so many talented young people and it’s essential to get business people into our schools to provide ‘world of work’ experience and advice to give students a better future.

“Education Business Services Ltd runs a range of business, engineering and marketing challenge days for schools as well as careers advice and is always keen to hear from businessmen and women keen to take part.”
