Wesleyan in running for top business award

BIRMINGHAM-based Wesleyan Assurance Society has been shortlisted for an award in one of the categories at this year’s National Business Award.

Wesleyan – a former National Business Awards winner at regional level – is in the running for Mid-Cap Business of the Year at the prestigious awards, which take place in November at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The category recognises companies with a turnover between £25m and £500m and those shortlisted are chosen on the basis of exceptional financial returns, strong growth and innovation strategies and market prominence in their sector.

Wesleyan earned its place on the shortlist due to the mutual’s 20% increase in new business sales in Q1 2010, alongside a 51% increase in ISA and unit trust sales and a 32% increase in pension sales.

Acknowledged as the UK’s leading showcase for achievement in business, The National Business Awards connects the nation’s professionals through its annual awards ceremonies and year-round marketing and promotional activity.

The Wesleyan offers specialist financial advice to hospital doctors, GPs, dentists, lawyers and teachers through its principal distribution brands Wesleyan Medical Sickness, Wesleyan for Lawyers and Wesleyan for Teachers.

It was awarded Life Insurer of the Year at the British Insurance Awards 2010 in June and won the Business of the Year Award at the National Business Awards Regional Finals in July 2009.
