Francesco stylists set to colour it up at awards

TWO hairdressers from a Staffordshire salon have been selected to take part in the regional finals of a sector-based awards scheme.

Simon Evans and Naomi Curran both work at the Francesco Group salon in Newcastle under Lyme. The pair have been shortlisted for the Midlands regional final of Wella’s International TrendVision Awards 2013, in the Colour Category.

Both were selected from the hundreds of entries throughout the Midlands and won just two of 16 places at the regional final, which takes place in Nottingham today.  From here, five will be selected to go through to the national finals in London in October. The winner will then go on to represent the UK in the Wella TrendVision Awards 2013 international final.

The aim of the competition is to inspire and acknowledge the industry’s most skilled hair stylists and colourists.  Each year, Wella professionals produce four key trend looks that are designed to inspire the competition.  The Colour Category gives colourists of any age the opportunity to express their creativity and put their colouring skills to the test.

In the initial stages of the competition entrants were invited to choose a trend, create the look and photograph the creation, along with a description of the trend and hair. The 16 finalists will be given one hour to re-create this look and present it live on stage at the regional final.

The competition also includes The Young Talent Category which is open to stylists under 30 years old to showcase their styling, technical and finishing skills.

Matt Haylor, salon director, Francesco Group, Newcastle, said: “It’s a great achievement for both Simon and Naomi to have been selected from the hundreds of entrants from all around our region.  We have a very talented team here at Francesco Group, Newcastle and it’s important that we continue to embrace new trends and techniques to offer our clients the very best in this ever evolving industry.
