Oakland Foundation gets the Royal seal of approval

THE Oakland Foundation, a charity created by Worcestershire logistics business Oakland International has been given the Royal seal of approval.

The foundation, which aims at reducing child poverty within Redditch and Bromsgrove, was officially launched by HRH The Princess Royal during a visit to the food distribution firm’s headquarters in Redditch.

During her visit the Princess met with representatives from the charity, local support groups and business representatives, along with Oakland employees.

The foundation is a key partner with Redditch Council in the area’s first official food bank and distribution network.

The Princess Royal, having unveiled the commemorative foundation plaque, said companies such as Oakland could have a positive effect on their local communities and working in collaboration with charities and schools could make a real difference.

Oakland International’s managing director, Dean Attwell, said: “It was a great honour that The Princess Royal chose to visit us, wishing to gain a fuller understanding of what we are trying to achieve. She was enthusiastic and wanted to get a real understanding of the work that so many stakeholders had collectively put into the creation of the Oakland Foundation, and the many fundraising initiatives and community involvement that has been part of our journey to date.

“To have a member of the Royal family launch the Oakland Foundation means a great deal to us and is a welcome boost for everyone involved.”
