Jaguar awards Tour de France winner Froome with a special ride

JAGUAR has presented Tour de France winner Chris Froome with a special edition F-Type sports car in honour of his race success.

The motor manufacturer supports Froome’s Team Sky by providing an XF Sportbrake as the team’s official support vehicle.

As part of the #GetBehindTeamSky social media campaign created by Jaguar, cycling fans were asked to tweet images of the design they would like to see on the vehicle.

The winning design shows a yellow – the traditional colour worn by the race leader – stripe down the centre of the car. The design mimics the livery of the Team Sky Sportbrake, which featured the images submitted by supporters during the final stage of the Tour in Paris on Sunday.

The victory marks back-to-back successes in the Tour for Team Sky, with Froome becoming the second British rider to win the Yellow Jersey after Sir Bradley Wiggins in 2012.

Froome said: “Every young cyclist dreams of one day riding in the Tour de France, let alone winning it. I haven’t done it alone though. Team Sky has a great set of partners, and I’d like to thank Jaguar for their brilliant support over the past four years. They’ve invested a lot of time and ingenuity into designing the XF Sportbrake, which is the perfect race support car for us. It has been crucial to keeping the team on the road throughout the competition.”

David Steele, Jaguar Global Brand Experience Director added: “It is an absolute pleasure to once again celebrate a Tour de France victory with Team Sky. Being part of the story is a real privilege for everyone at Jaguar.  We congratulate the team and I am sure Chris Froome will enjoy celebrating with an invigorating drive in his new F-Type.”
