Staubli in expansionary mood as it leases facility from Telford Council

ENGINEERING firm Staubli UK is to move to a new facility after completing an agreement for a lease with Telford & Wrekin Council.

Staubli – a  mechatronics solutions provider with three dedicated divisions – needs larger premises because of continued market growth and an associated increase in its workforce.

It is to move to Hadley Park East, to a site that was recently acquired by Telford & Wrekin Council from the Homes and Communities Agency.

Its new premises will be a purpose built 9,520 sq ft facility on a 1.4 acre site.
It will give Staubli 50% more space with room for further expansion. Work started on the building last month and the anticipated completion date is May 2014.

Staubli (UK) general manager Paul Stone said: “Site owner Telford & Wrekin Council has been helpful and supportive in progressing this development and safeguarding jobs locally.

“This investment in new premises also secures additional jobs for the Telford area as we expand our activities into the new larger facilities.”

Telford building and civil engineering firm McPhillips (Wellington) has been appointed as the principal contractor to design and build the new facility.

Staubli moved to Telford 25 years ago and this will be the company’s second move within the borough. It was initially based on Stafford Park before moving to its current base on Hortonwood in 2005.

It has a workforce of 4,000 nationwide and has manufacturing facilities in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the US and China and offices across Europe, North and South America and the Far East.

Councillor Charles Smith, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for development, business and housing, said: “As well as attracting inward investment, we are committing to helping the borough’s existing businesses to expand and this is a prime example of how we are doing that.”
