Intelligent move for Browne Jacobson
BROWNE Jacobson has strengthened its counter fraud team with the appointment of intelligence manager Mike Tuffin.
Tuffin has more than ten years’ expertise and experience in counter fraud intelligence and was most recently head of intelligence at Greenwoods Solicitors.
His specialism lies in all areas of intelligence from fraud detection, financial risk assessment and intelligence analysis to private and criminal investigations and anti-money laundering matters, with specific experience in the banking and insurance sectors.
Tuffin will be based in the firm’s Birmingham office and will report directly to Paul Wainwright, partner and head of Counter fraud.
New trainees for FBC Manby Bowdler
FBC Manby Bowdler has appointed three new trainee solicitors to their team. Mark Turner, Jonathan Moss and Sophie-Ann Bridges joined the firm as paralegals during 2011 and 2012 and were recently appointed as trainee solicitors following a successful application process.
Craig Ridge, training partner at the firm, said: “All three of our new trainees have already shown great promise within each of their specialist areas since they joined the firm. I have no doubt that they will continue to work hard and be an asset to each of their teams.”
Turner, who has joined the Town and Country Planning department, is an active member of Shrewsbury Young Professionals Networking Group and the Wolverhampton & Black Country Junior Lawyers Division. He is also part of the Montgomeryshire Young Farmers.
Moss has joined the Litigation Department and Ms Bridges, a criminology and sociology graduate who represents the Wolverhampton and Black Country Junior Lawyers Division at a national level, has joined the firm’s award-winning Family team.

Thursfields pays the price for new IP specialist
HALESOWEN-based Thursfields Solicitors has appointed Stuart Price as a commercial and intellectual property law specialist.
Price, who has a 25-year legal career, said: “I’m really excited by the opportunity here at Thursfields. The firm is relatively new to the Black Country and this gives the opportunity to offer a fresh approach to local business. For me it’s all about building good relationships with our clients.”
