Kier wins second major West Midlands hospital contract in a week

CONTRACTOR Kier has been awarded a £30m contract to build a new emergency services building at New Cross Hospital for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
It is second major hospital contract win in a week after already being appointed principal supply chain partner by the University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust in a contract valued at £100m.
According to the Construction Enquirer news site, the planned scope of the £30m Wolverhampton hospital works programme includes building a three-storey emergency department containing the new A&E department, wards and admin space.
Work will be carried out in phased sections to ensure access to the hospital and to ensure hospital functions are unaffected.
Kier will start on site in June with a planned opening date of November 2015.
