Record breaking contract for J S Wright
BUILDING services contractor J S Wright has marked the start of its 125th anniversary year by securing its biggest-ever deal.
The Birmingham company, founded in 1890, has won a £10m-plus commission to equip more than 400 new homes at one of the biggest regeneration schemes in East London.
It is one of a series of contracts with a total value exceeding £18m that Galliard Homes has awarded J S Wright for Indescon Court at Millharbour.
The company will provide mechanical services to 423 private apartments in four blocks, including a 32-storey building, at the £100m development.
J S Wright, which has its HQ in Aston and an office in London, will be installing heat-interface units in each apartment for residents to receive energy efficient heating and hot water as part of the second section of Indescon Court Phase 2.
The company has also won a further £2.5m contract with Galliard to provide mechanical and public health installations for a new 12-storey, 130-bed deluxe hotel on the same site.
J S Wright is in the process of installing the site-wide mechanical and public health installations to the entire project, which is part of an initial £5m contract that includes fitting out the first 123 apartments at Indescon Court for One Housing Group by March.
The new phase of the project, scheduled for completion by December 2015, will also involve the installation of boosted cold water, heating, chilled water and public health services to all 423 apartments and the fitting of four-pipe fan coil units with associated building controls in three of the blocks.
J S Wright has built a strong relationship with Galliard Homes, having installed the energy centre for 980 luxury and affordable homes at New Capital Quay in nearby Greenwich Reach and completed 226 affordable apartments and a 158-bed Premier Inn hotel at Greenwich Commercial Centre in the past three years.
Marcus Aniol, the firm’s managing director, said: “Our biggest ever contract has confirmed the faith that Galliard Homes has placed in us as a preferred partner for some of the most prestigious residential and hotel projects in London.”
