Overbury to oversee property consultancy’s office overhaul

FIT out specialist Overbury has been appointed by property consultancy BNP Paribas Real Estate to help it overhaul its Birmingham office space.

The firm wants to be ready to take advantage of the arrival of high-speed rail project HS2 to the city.

Fort Dunlop-based Overbury has been instructed by BNP Paribas Real Estate to help relocate its team onto one floor at 9 Colmore Row and support the company’s drive to improve communication and efficiency, with the implementation of paperless working.

BNP Paribas Real Estate’s team of 115 in Birmingham currently occupies around 14,000 sq ft across the first and second floors of the building next to Snow Hill station and under the new plans it will continue to occupy the first floor while sub-letting 5,000 sq ft on the second floor.

Head of office Simon Robinson said: “There is a cost benefit to the move but more importantly we want to get everyone from the business on the same floor and completely change the way we work.

“The new office will be paperless which aligns us much more with the type of clients we are working with and a more agile working environment will encourage different departments to work more collaboratively together with the consequent benefits of cross-selling that this will bring.

“With HS2 taking space at Two Snowhill we are already seeing those companies that will be working on the project beginning to cluster in this area so in an ever diminishing market we are confident that 5,000 sq ft in this location should let readily.”

Overbury project manager Michele Clifton said: “The property sector continues to evolve and this means that its own accommodation needs have to adapt to changing working practices and so it is great to be able to support BNP Paribas Real Estate having previously worked on similar projects with Rider Levett Bucknall and Colliers to name but a few.

“Once we had sat down with Simon and understood the driving forces behind this project we were able to produce a new layout and design that promoted collaboration while fulfilling all BNPPRE’s growth aspirations, not just for the short term but also the medium and long term as well.”
