New start security firm lands Notting Hill Carnival contract

A COVENTRY security service has been selected by organisers of the Notting Hill Carnival to escort a number of its 2015 procession floats.
The I Am Security Network was launched this year and is already securing repeat business from both Midlands and London-based companies.
Abdul-Malik Rahman, managing director and founder, said: “My security business is all about providing exactly what our clients desire, no matter what their requirements may be. I had spotted a gap in service delivery within the current market, which didn’t give commercial and residential property clients the same consideration or priority as larger events such as the Notting Hill Carnival.
“Our team of security professionals is small enough to give unique attention, but dedicated and experienced enough to offer clients flexible, tailored services, including a growing canine team providing the added benefit of security dogs.”
The firm is charting further growth and is looking to obtain ISO 9001 accreditation.
I Am Security was established after receiving a start up loan from regional not-for-profit finance provider, the Coventry and Warwickshire Reinvestment Trust (CWRT). CWRT also assisted the firm in preparing a viable business plan aimed at steering the company on its path to growth.
CWRT is encouraging more local businesses to apply for a business loan, with £200,000 needing to be claimed by June 30, 2015.
The trust provides loans of between £1,000 and £50,000 that can be used for any business purpose.
Mike Musson, chief executive of CWRT, said: “Our mission is to grow the local economy by supporting small and start-up businesses and creating jobs, so we were happy to have helped Mr Rahman launch his very own business this year. The immediate success of I Am Security Network Ltd, as demonstration by its selection for the Notting Hill Carnival, is proof that regional businesses can have an impact nationally.
“The support we provided is available to other entrepreneurs looking to start their own business and are looking for alternative financing options.”
CWRT is one of 60 Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFI’s) nationwide and in just under 10 years, has loaned over £4.8m to more than 300 businesses, leading to the creation of more than 500 jobs.
