CPBigwood’s muddy challenge raises more than £2,000 for charity

A TEAM from Birmingham property consultancy CPBigwood team has raised more than £2,000 for Cancer Research UK after taking part in the recent Race for Life at Cofton Park, Longbridge.

A mud-spattered Aimee Rossiter, Kylie Pearson, Perm Daley and Dani Randles were sponsored by the firm to take on the challenge of the 5k obstacle course.

Other donations poured in too which meant the foursome quickly smashed their original target of £1,000.

Perm said: “Participating in the run and being part of such a worthy cause was just wonderful – thanks to CPBigwood for backing us.

“We had a terrific day whereby the muddier we got the more fun we were having. The whole experience has been a great achievement, enjoyable and worthwhile.”

Aimee Rossiter added: “Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.”

Law firm raise funds in wake of Nepal disaster

BIRMINGHAM’S DBS Law has raised more than £1,300 for the survivors of the devastating earthquakes in Nepal, which are known to have destroyed more than 130,000 homes and killed more than 7,000 people.

The firm challenged businesses across the UK to take part in a sponsored silence for an hour as part of the company’s Stop and Listen appeal to help provide desperately needed relief.

The money raised will be used to fund ShelterBox aid, providing highly portable shelter kits particularly useful in high altitude mountain communities, and the more familiar green ShelterBoxes which contain essential items including water containers and filtration, custom designed tents, mosquito nets, solar lights and cooking equipment.

Davy Bal, chairman of DBS Law, said: “People can often turn a deaf ear to tragedies that happen overseas, especially if it doesn’t impact on their lives directly and forget that the recovery effort doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why we created the Stop and Listen campaign to encourage people to help raise vital funds in the wake of the earthquake in Nepal.

“We challenged office chatterboxes across the UK to put themselves to the test by organising a sponsored silence in May and asking their friends, family and colleagues to sponsor them.
