HomeServe beefs up gas market offering through acquisition

WALSALL-based home maintenance plc HomeServe has acquired Nottingham’s Home Energy Services for an undisclosed sum.

HomeServe says the deal creates a 600-strong network of directly employed plumbing, drainage and heating engineers and enhances its in-house gas capability.

Home Energy Services is a major gas service and repair business, formerly part of E.ON.

The combined business will have more than 600 directly-employed specialist engineers, supported by a panel of third-party service providers and a growing gas franchising business, covering the full range of heating, plumbing & drainage and electrics services, serving more than two million customers across the UK.

The Home Energy Services hub and its people in Nottingham will work with HomeServe centres in Walsall, Preston and Banbury.

Martin Bennett, CEO of HomeServe Membership, said: “This will be an important step for both HomeServe and Home Energy Services.

“The addition of Home Energy Services’ gas expertise and network of directly-employed gas engineers to our market-leading plumbing and drainage division and our own experienced gas engineers, working alongside our trusted group of third-party service providers and our growing gas franchising business, creates an incredible opportunity for us, but more importantly, absolutely supports our goal of delivering truly effortless service to our customers.

“In the short-term for both HomeServe and Home Energy Services, our focus is absolutely on the winter months ahead, our busiest time and often the time our customers need us most. However, the New Year promises to be exciting for us all.”

Chris McLain, CEO of Home Energy Services, added: “HomeServe is a company into which Home Energy Services fits perfectly.”
