Mills & Reeve wins Manufacturing Technology Centre contract
LAW firm Mills & Reeve, which has a Birmingham operation, has been appointed as principal legal advisor to the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).
Following a competitive tender process including three other firms, Mills & Reeve was appointed to advise the MTC – based at Ansty Park, near Coventry – as its principal legal partner on a full service basis, including employment, IP, corporate tax, construction, commercial contracts and commercial property.
The MTC develops innovative manufacturing techniques in collaboration with research partners including University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and TWI.
It is one of seven High Value Manufacturing Catapult centres across the UK designed to help companies take technologies developed in academic research institutes to market. Members include Rolls Royce, Siemens, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Airbus.
The Mills & Reeve team was headed by Birmingham employment partner Richard Santy and included partners Jayne Hussey and Alasdair Poore.
Santy said: “The MTC is involved in research for some of the most exciting and innovative projects in the manufacturing sector and we’re delighted to have been appointed.
“The Midlands is really coming into its own as a region that is looking to invest in the future and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to help the MTC build on its success further.”
