Structural engineer builds for growth after £0.9m funding deal

A WOLVERHAMPTON structural engineering specialist has relocated to larger premises after securing a new finance deal.

Wintech Group completed the move after being supported by an £890,000 financial package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

The relocation, designed to support the growth of the business, has created more than 20 new jobs.

The new 10,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Pendeford is double the size of the firm’s previous base, and has provided improved facilities for an additional 15 engineers and scientists as well as space to further develop its services.

These include façade engineering and consultancy, wind engineering, scientific and mathematical modelling and the analysis of construction materials.

Following its move into the new building, the firm is now looking to maximise its growth potential as demand for its services continues to increase.

This includes capitalising on export opportunities in the Middle East and North America.

Founded in 1983, Wintech provides specialist façade engineering consultancy and design services as its core business. Having steadily expanded over a 30-year period, the group now employs more than 100 people in a range of specialist sciences and disciplines, solely focused on the aesthetic, environmental and structural challenges crucial to the successful completion of the envelope of modern buildings.

Wintech’s most recent projects include The Cube and the City of Birmingham Library, for which it provided design and consultancy support. Working with world-renowned architects on some of the world’s tallest buildings in conjunction with its offices in London and Dubai, the group generates an annual turnover of over £7m.

Chris Macey, CEO of Wintech Group, said: “Lloyds Bank has been a trusted partner in enabling us to realise our growth ambitions for more than 30 years and its support in helping us to complete the move to our new head office has been invaluable.

“It’s our belief that the key to growth is primarily based on the skill set of our engineers and service and, as a quality-focused company, we are continually looking to develop and build on our offering to ensure we’re recognised as a market-leading firm in this specialised niche of the construction industry.

“Our new offices offer the right internal infrastructure and facilities to more effectively encourage profitability, create a better environment for our people and give us the capacity to grow our business as we look to fulfil our long term expansion objectives.”

Adrian Burden, relationship director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Wintech’s move to new premises has already led to the creation of jobs for five highly skilled engineers and leaves it well-placed to expand further going forward.”
