Jobs set to be created as taxi company expands

A SHROPSHIRE taxi firm is creating more jobs at it continues to expand its service.

Go Carz, which has more than 800 cars across Shropshire and the Midlands, is looking for new recruits at its call centre in Shrewsbury.

Bosses at the private hire firm said a continued rise in demand for taxis meant more staff were needed to man the phone lines and process bookings taken through the website and smartphone app.

Cindy Wilday, marketing director, said: “Demand has steadily increased over the past year, and we are now taking more than 110,000 phone calls every week across our areas of Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton and Walsall.

“Our drivers are carrying out about 75,000 journeys a week, so we need a big team of staff behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly.

“We are looking to recruit four more members of staff at our Shrewsbury office, with a variety of different shifts available on weekdays and at weekends.”

The new positions mark the latest phase on an ongoing expansion plan first implemented last year.

The company has recently recruited driver support officers who patrol each area serviced by Go Carz to check vehicles and driving standards.

Direct marketing teams have also been taken on to deliver leaflets and other promotional material to homes and businesses across the Midlands.

Go Carz is also looking to grow its presence in towns such as Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton and Walsall, and is looking to recruit new drivers to operate in those areas.
