Bank holiday travel problems begin after M6 accident

THERE are delays of more than an hour on the M6 southbound in Staffordshire after an accident caused a lane closure.
Highways England said there is “very slow traffic and long delays” between junction 16, for Crewe, through to junction 14, for Stafford North. It has rated the incident as “severe”.
It said travel time is “at least 60 minutes” in the affected area although all lanes are now open.
3.05PM UPDATE:
Traffic is now stop-start, but congestion has spread onto the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent and the A34 towards Stone.
