Developers launch scheme to build 750 homes and 1m sq ft of offices

A SCHEME to deliver a hotel, 750 homes and up to 1m sq ft of commercial space is to go before planners in what would be a massive expansion of Blythe Valley Park.

The park already has 700,000 sq ft of space across 13 buildings and developers are now ready to move forward with plans for its undeveloped western area.

It would see 750 homes, a 200-bedroom hotel and a housing with care facility of up to 250 units, plus leisure and leisure and other uses of up to 40,000 sq ft.

There would be up to 1m sq ft of commercial space, which would be predominantly offices, although this would be reduced if the hotel and care unit were not delivered.

A hybrid planning application has been submitted to Solihull Council by site owners IM Properties.

It bought the 260-acre park out of receivership for around £125m at the end of 2014. The existing 135-acre country park which bounds the site also formed part of the purchase.
