Contractor appointed to university framework

BUILDING contractor Willmott Dixon has been appointed to Birmingham City University’s (BCU) Minor Works Framework.

The firm has worked with BCU for a number of years providing sustainable buildings for the various faculties.

Now, through the three-year framework, the firm will be delivering projects with a value above £250,000 up to the European Union procurement threshold.

The framework enables the university to bring together a number of suppliers capable of delivering high quality construction projects over a sustained period, without having to repeatedly undertake new tender processes.

Peter Owen, managing director for Willmott Dixon in the Midlands, said: “Our relationship with BCU has developed alongside the university’s ambitious expansion plans, which have produced a vibrant new campus in the centre of Birmingham. By working closely with the university and understanding its objectives, we have been able to deliver key projects that meet the needs of its students and staff.

“This appointment marks a significant milestone for us and we are delighted to be taking this relationship a step forward.”

Peter Cochrane, project director at BCU, said: “This framework helps the university plan ahead, working with trusted and reliable partners for a defined period of time. Willmott Dixon has been an excellent partner in major construction projects and I look forward to continuing to work together over the next three years.”

In 2015, Willmott Dixon created the hi-spec Curzon Building which was awarded two major accolades for quality and sustainability. Previously, the firm built the Parkside Building which has secured a number of awards since its completion in 2013.
