50 jobs as building materials firm sets up shop

BUILDING materials supplier Selco Builders Warehouse is creating more than 50 new jobs in Wolverhampton after identifying the city as the base for the latest phase of its national expansion.

The company is already recruiting the staff it will need for the operation, which will become the 43rd branch in the national network when it opens later this year.

It has selected a site on Stafford Road, close to the Foxes Lane and Five Ways island junction, and is set to open its doors to trade customers in September.
 
Most of the jobs are expected to be recruited from the local area.
 
Chris Cunliffe, Chief Executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “Opening in Wolverhampton will be of great benefit to the local economy. Selco’s recruitment policy has always been to employ those from the branch’s local community and that will continue at Wolverhampton.
 
“The recruitment process is currently underway with a host of different job openings available. We have had a lot of interest in our positions.”

The company, which already has branches I the West Midlands opted to open the new store after identifying a need to serve tradesman in and around the Wolverhampton area.

The Wolverhampton branch will join a regional network that includes branches in Dudley, Tyburn, Stirchley, Perry Barr, Tyseley and Coventry. More UK branch openings are planned throughout 2016.
 
The new branch will feature an extensive range of kitchen and bathroom displays, together with building materials such as drainage, roofing, heating, plumbing and electrical products. There will also be a Click + Collect service where customers can purchase online and pick their orders up in branch within an hour.
 
There will also be an in-branch cafe, trade services, equipment hire, direct to site delivery options and van size parking spaces.
