Midlands move is picture perfect for camera firm

THE European arm of a camera equipment supplier to the TV and film industry has set up a base in Redditch.

Acebil Europe has taken 1,010 sq ft on a five-year lease at The Oaks Business Centre on Clews Road.

Acebil is a Taiwanese-owned UK corporation manufacturing tripod systems, jib arms, pedestals, zoom controllers, sliders, stabilizers, and much more for both still and video cameras.

It announced last year that it was to move into Europe and has been looking for suitable locations since then.

Nick Allen-Miles, managing director of Acebil Europe, said the company, based in New Taipei City, was growing fast.

“Acebil has been engaged in the manufacturing of tripod systems for both still and video cameras since 1980,” he said.

Following expansion, the firm now offers a full line of camera support equipment. It has maintained its manufacturing operation in Taiwan rather than shift to the Chinese mainland.

In 2010, it opened Eagle America Sales Corporation in Torrance, California, a wholly-owned subsidiary to provide customer services for both North and South America. Sales offices have since been established in China, and Japan, and now Europe.

“It means service and distribution worldwide are more efficient than ever,” added Mr Allen-Miles.

Property agents John Truslove worked with the firm to identify suitable premises.

John Truslove director, Ian Parker said: “It is a ‘lights, camera, action’ moment for Redditch; a very significant addition to the town’s business success and further evidence of how good communications and a central location are a vital pull.”

The Oaks Business Centre is a modern office development, close to both Redditch town centre and Junction 2 of the M42.
