Region almost unanimous in historic night

The West Midlands has voted out, in line with the UK whose voters have declared they want to leave the European Union.

Birmingham, the largest single result, narrowly voted out by fewer than 4,000 votes across 450,000 votes cast.

But with most of the region declared, Warwick is the only one of the 30 local authorities to support the Remain campaign, with a 58.8% vote in favour.

Cannock Chase, Tamworth, North Warwickshire, Sandwell and Walsall are among the areas to vote two-to-one or greater to leave the European Union.
