Worcestershire hoteliers signal growth with acquisition

WORCESTERSHIRE hotel owners have signalled their growth ambitions with the acquisition of a second venue.

Hoteliers Aidan and Sarah Stevens, who own Droitwich-based St Andrews Town Hotel, have committed to the purchase of an historic venue in the Cotswolds.

They said the purchase of the 39-bedroom, 17th century Stratton House Hotel in Cirencester will be followed with £1m investment programme and the promise of more jobs.

The acquisition comes four years after the couple purchased St Andrews, which was followed by a similar investment which saw the overhaul of the 31-bedroom facility, together with the installation of new orangery.

The project created 14 jobs, expanding its team to 40.

The couple are now looking to replicate this in their new addition, which was acquired from the Oxfordshire-based St James’s Hotel Group for an undisclosed sum.

Mr Stevens said: “The success and support we’ve had since we took over the St Andrews Town Hotel has been fantastic and that has played a huge role in us expanding and having the confidence to take on our second venue.

“In many ways the template we’ve created in Droitwich, and the feedback from guests, has helped us to decide on the blueprint for the Stratton House refurbishment plans.

“It is about achieving the elegant and modern style people look for, but with a relaxed atmosphere and first-class customer service.”
