£9m investment to fund manufacturer’s international growth

HILLS NUMBERPLATES, the world’s third-largest manufacturer of numberplates, has secured £9.2m from a range of funders.
Finance Birmingham, Birmingham City Council, NatWest Corporate and Commercial Finance and RBS Invoice Finance have collaborated on a package to support the Birmingham group.
Hills bought France’s largest numberplate manufacturer Faab Fabricauto at the end of 2015, more than doubling the size of the group which now has more than 200 employees and annual sales of around £40m.
Richard Taffinder, managing director of Hills Numberplates, said: “We are a business built on excellent customer service and a strong vision and this funding will help us to accelerate our growth.

“By completing our acquisition of Faab Fabricauto and having the funds to invest in our products, we can now expand our offering for our customers and create a greater international footprint.”
Hills Group was founded nearly 90 years ago and produces more than 19m plates each year serving clients including Honda, Fiat, Ford and Toyota.
Finance Birmingham has provided £3m in loans, made up of £2m from the Regional Growth Fund’s mezzanine fund and £1m from Birmingham City Council’s loan fund.

RBS Invoice Finance has provided £3.7m and NatWest £2.5m.
