TK Maxx set to open new store

DESIGNER goods and clothing retailer TK Maxx is to open a new ladies-only store in Solihull creating 30 jobs.

The flagship store is set to open its doors in Mell Square next spring in what is a significant anchor letting for the centre.

GCW and Cushman & Wakefield acted on behalf of shopping centre owners Aviva to secure the deal on a 10-year lease at a rent of £375,000 pa, doubling the previous rent obtained from the space.

Work on the new store will start shortly and the plans will see the former Bonmarche and Pure Party stores being reformatted to create one 16,000 sq ft unit selling designer and high street labels in a new ladies-only concept.

A typical TK Maxx store stocks an average 50,000 items with daily deliveries bringing up to 10,000 new items to store every week.

Helen Gunter of TK Maxx said: “We are very excited to be opening up a new store in Solihull.

“We’ve created a boutique feel to the store to create a more intimate shopping experience that’s in keeping with a smaller store environment.

“Ladies will still find the same big choice of high street and designer fashion and accessories at up to 60% off the RRP, but we hope they will also love the little feminine touches we’ve added with them in mind.”

Mell Square Centre director Paul Round added: “We are thrilled to be welcoming TK Maxx to Mell Square, adding to the centre’s already strong womenswear offering.

“TK Maxx is a leading international retailer offering key designer pieces at affordable prices, and its arrival in Solihull boosts not only the town’s economy but also its fashion landscape.”
