BBC appoints new chief in East Yorkshire

THE BBC has appointed a new head of its East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire operations.

Yorkshire-born David Jennings, currently head of news at ITV Anglia, will take over his new post in September and be responsible for managing BBC Look North in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, BBC Humberside, BBC Lincolnshire and online staff.

Mr Jennings said: “I was born in Hull and spent much of my childhood in Yorkshire, so this feels rather like coming home.

“It’s a great part of the country, and I’m really looking forward to working with the David Jenningstalented and creative BBC teams across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.”

He started work at Anglia in 1987 as a production journalist, moving on to roles as a reporter and producer.

He began his journalistic career as a trainee on the Eastern Daily Press in Norwich, working as a reporter and sub-editor, before joining Radio Broadland in Norwich in 1985.
