HOTA invests in renewables future

THE Humberside Offshore Training Association is investing more than £1m in its facilities to try and capitalise on the region’s growing reputation in the offshore wind industry.

HOTA will build a wind turbine and open new units on its Malmo Road site in Hull as it expands to meet the needs of this new sector.

General manager Linda Ellis said: “In collaboration with Total Access we aim to be the market leader for the provision of marine safety training and working at height and rescue training for the wind turbine sector.

“Our facilities, particularly at our Albert Dock site, will place us in a perfect position to service the needs of the wind sector as the Humber gains more and more prominence in this particular area.

“The expansion is a vital step in equipping people who will be working in the renewable industry with the required training.”

HOTA already trains more than 5,000 people a year working in the oil and gas exploration sectors.
