Online farm shop aims to deliver

A YORKSHIRE entrepreneur has launched an online farmers’ market supplying quality produce sourced from the Yorkshire Dales.
Paganum Produce, based in the Dales at Kirkby Malham, supplies meat and produce from family farms and small artisan firms in the Yorkshire Dales direct to the consumer and trade outlets.
Founder Heather Mitchell said: “As a child I benefited from good, traditional home cooking with fresh produce and I’m anxious that my family do the same which is why, as a mother, I care deeply about buying meat and produce which are traceable. Now, more than ever before, parents are interested in what their children eat.”
Newly appointed managing director Chris Wildman said: “Many local suppliers and farmers have seen the advantages of selling direct to the public but, other than the ‘ Fresh Lamb for Sale’ sign at the end of the farm lane, are not in most cases marketeers and therefore cannot take advantage of the growing ‘buy direct and buy local’ phenomena. Paganum can help take these products to market while giving the producers a good return and providing the consumer with the regional produce and provenance they increasingly require.”
Paganum, which means ‘rural tradition’ in Latin, deals only with trusted farmers who share a commitment to ensuring their animals have the very best quality of life and whose produce comes with the Farm Assured standard.
