Appointments: Croda International, PwC, Leeds Community Foundation

CHEMICALS group Croda International has confirmed non-executive director Anita Frew has replaced chairman Martin Flower, who has retired from the board after ten years in the role.  
Steve Foots, group chief executive, said: “On behalf of the board and all my Croda colleagues, I would like to thank Martin Flower for his support and outstanding contribution he has made to Croda over the last ten years.”
Ms Frew’s appointment comes at an interesting time for the group, which reported “encouraging” first-half figures in mid-July but has seen its market vaue fall £600m in the last six weeks.

PwC has expanded its pensions practice with the recruitment of James Chalk from BDO, who will join PwC’s employer covenant team across Leeds and Manchester. 
Mark Jennings, head of the PwC’s northern pensions credit advisory practice, said: “James is a great addition to the team and brings a wealth of experience. This highlights our intention to invest in our regional pensions practice, and deliver the highest quality service to our clients.”

Leeds Community Foundation (LCF) has appointed Kate Hainsworth as development director, a new role to help it engage with more donors to provide vital community investment and support across Leeds. 
Ms Hainsworth has joined from a similar role at Opera North, and she has previously worked in a range of marketing and development roles in the arts and third sector.
Sally-Anne Greenfield, chief executive of LCF, said: “We have ambitious plans for the future, as we strengthen the team and focus our efforts on increasing private investment to address key needs across the city.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kate on board, as she brings a wealth of experience which will help us to reach this objective and drive the Foundation forward. ”
Since its launch in 2005, LCF has distributed more than £25m in grants to local community groups who support vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the city.
