Acquisition set to boost Scarborough web designers

SCARBOROUGH-based Infotex is preparing to move into new and bigger markets following its acquisition by Shelton Internet.

Until now, the web design agency, which also has an office in East Sussex, has mostly focused on serving smaller firms. But the takeover means it will now supply bespoke systems to much bigger operations including the NHS.

The move -which will retain the Infotex name – is the first in an ambitious plan to grow the brand’s presence throughout the UK.

Shelton’s managing director Anthony Agar, said: “The acquisition will enable us to distribute our range of SME website solutions across a wider geographical area and market them to Infotex’s customer base of more than 1,000. Our intention is to grow the name across the country.”

At the heart of Shelton’s success is its innovative ‘FlexiKit’ software – a web-hosting system with bolt-on features, including easy-to-operate e-shops, holiday lets and community packages from prices under £1,000.

Mr Agar continued: “We believe companies enjoy close local contact with their website providers. The acquisition of the Infotex offices in East Grinstead and Scarborough is based on this hands-on philosophy.”

Suffolk-based Shelton, which employs 18 full-time staff in offices in London and East Anglia, also provides a whole range of bespoke business system solutions to its clients including London councils, Arrow Shipbrokers and Finlays Tea.

Infotex launched more than 15 years ago with the aim of providing a professional websites at a sensible price.

From the start the company’s unique selling point was round-the-clock support for its entire client base.

As well as web design, Infotex specialises in digital marketing allowing companies to reach more customers by boosting their web presence with pay-perclick advertising and search engine optimisation.

As part of a monthly fee, websites are maintained 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
