Golf event is a ‘hole’ new way of networking

GRANT Thornton’s Sheffield office is inviting businesswomen to the 2009 Women in Golf networking events in the city.

Women in Golf is a networking opportunity for women only combining the fun of playing golf with the chance to meet other women in business.

Business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK is the new sponsor of the monthly gatherings organised by Six Degrees Events.

The first sponsored Sheffield Women in Golf event is at the Rother Valley Golf Centre on May 21.

Beginning at 12.30pm with a buffet lunch and networking, the event moves on to lessons in driving, chipping and putting with a golf pro and the chance to tackle nine holes for the more experienced before a 4pm finish.

Future events will then be held on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Michelle Askham, business services manager at Grant Thornton in Sheffield, said: “Women in Golf is not just a networking event for ladies but also the opportunity to pick up a golf club and have a try. It is aimed at all abilities, from women who have never played golf before to those who are experienced golfers.

“It is a fun and productive way to take time-out from the office to meet new contacts, learn one of the fastest growing sports and find out why so much business is done on the golf course.”

There is no membership fee with each event costing £30 to attend. Golf equipment can be provided if needed.

To register, or to find out more about the events and future dates and times, call Samantha at Six Degrees Events on 01773 531 160 or go online to: www.6degreesevents.co.uk/womeningolf2009.php
