Jet2.com owner appoints non-executive director

JET2.COM owner Dart Group today announced the appointment of a 40-year-old fund manager as a non-executive director.

Mark Laurence, a former shareholder in City stockbrokers Collins Stewart, has joned the board of the Leeds-based airline and distribution business.

Mr Laurence has previous been a member of the transport equity research team at Kitcat & Aitken and then at Smith New Court, which was subsequently taken over by Merrill Lynch in 1995.

From 1995 to 1997, he was part of the UK equity strategy team at Merrill Lynch and in 1997 he joined Collins Stewart, becoming a shareholder the following year.

Following the sale of Collins Stewart in 2001, he has pursued a career in fund management, devising and overseeing the launch a number of investment products.

He is a governor of Bryanston School in Dorset and a member of the endowment investment committee of King’s College University, London.

Dart Group, headed by chairman and chief executive Philip Meeson, owns Jet2.com which flies from Belfast, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle airports and has 30 aircraft.

It also operates the Fowler Welch-Coolchain logistics operations.
