Akbars expansion hotting up with new restaurant

YORKSHIRE-based Indian restaurant chain Akbars has continued its expansion with the opening of its ninth venue.
Akbars is set to open its Birmingham restaurant, that will seat 300 people and have a private function suite that can cater for up to 200 guests, next month.
Established in 1995 in Bradford, Akbars currently has restaurants throughout the North of England including Leeds, Manchester, York, Sheffield and Middlesbrough.
Yorkshire law firm Gordons provided commercial property and licensing advice to Akbars on the opening.
Gordons’ commercial property solicitor Simon Mydlowski and regulatory solicitor Satpal Roth advised Akbar’s managing director Shabir Hussain on the restaurant’s lease and licensing agreements respectively.

Mr Hussain said: “Our expansion into Birmingham is an exciting one. It already has an excellent reputation for Asian cuisine so we are looking forward to offering our particular style of food and service within such a vibrant city restaurant scene.”
It is also anticipated that Akbars will open a 300 seat restaurant in Newcastle city centre in January 2010 and Gordons is also currently assisting the restaurant in securing the lease.
Mr Mydlowski said: “The continued expansion of Akbars is testimony to the vision and dedication of Shabir and his team.
“They seek to deliver excellence in everything that they do and this single-minded focus has meant they have continued to expand at pace whilst ensuring the continued stability of the business.”
