Survey and business expo boost for Doncaster

AN influential survey designed to determine how the recession is impacting on Yorkshire firms is being launched by Doncaster Chamber.
The Chamber’s quarterly economic survey (QES) provides vital information about how the local economy is fairing and how businesses in Doncaster can best be helped through difficult times.
It is the country’s largest business survey and is recognised by the Government and the Bank of Englands Monetary Policy Committee.
Between September 1 and 3, Doncaster Chamber will also be hosting the DN Business Expo, which is designed to help the region’s firms find new business opportunities and to kick start economic recovery in the borough.
Daniel Fell, head of policy for the Chamber, said: “The results of the last QES showed a significant rise in business confidence in the borough with local trends far outstripping national averages.
“We want the DN Business Expo to harness that resurgence in business confidence and to be a real flex of the muscles for the Doncaster economy.”
He said that times were still incredibly tough for Doncaster businesses and it was important not to be too “bullish” about the immediate future.
However, he added that by bringing several hundred businesses together at the Expo, the Chamber hoped to generate opportunities for local firms.
